Well, you know what folks?
You try your best to fail in life, and people all around you just keep pushing you towards success ;)
I might as well face facts. I'm going to be successful at the comics game. I may or may not have the fame of Jim Lee or Frank Miller, but I will be fine.
Such is life. :)
See the thing is I had pretty much cleared off my whole plate of projects. I dropped Shootin' Stars due to a lack of interest from the creator (in his defense, I think it was a case of too many irons...)
I had put the whole DC Marvel Darkhorse thing on the side, missing Comic Con took a lot of the wind out of those sails. In short my zest for comics had faltered.
I had decided to work on my own title called Honor Thy Mother. An horror/drama about Miss Hewlett. A older woman who is hunting and terrorizing teenage boys. (I seem to suck at pitches, lol) Just poke at it and see what happened.
Then out of the blue, I'm part of OUT OF MIND studio (so Honor Thy Mother is being written, and drawn with some sort of deadline in mind), a writer I respect is asking to show my art to a studio (don't know what will happen there, I guess) I'm working on a 25 page story due out by Nov.1 (an prequel to Honor Thy Mother for Tales From The Harbor, check their website!), and a 6 page story due in the same book, being written by Kevin Sole of OOM Studio.
I hope it doesn't come off as if I bitching. I'm having the best time of my life! I'm making comics, and working with deadlines (I love deadlines) I have more on my plate then I'm really use to, and if something comes of my writer friend showing off my art, I'll be busier yet!
It wasn't comics that I was having a problem with. I just needed more. More pressure, more projects, more fun!
Thanks to all my friends! I'd be nowhere without you guys. (Enjoy the compliments now. Once I make it, who knows ;)
